Pounding Suburbia: An open letter to the panic buying British public.
I appreciate there is about to be a lorry strike and while I’m not sure why it is happening and I’m too tired to find out I presume they have a point of some sort. This is an inconvenience but it is in fact you the great British public that need to sort your lives out.
As I pulled out of work today my petrol light flashed on. My nearest petrol station is 3 miles away. No big deal except the queues are huge, so I go to the next 2 all closed. Now I understand that your tank may also be empty, but I also saw a lot of boy racers in that queue and I reckon their engines were not running on fumes.
At 9:45pm I go to Shell and fill up. I queue for 10 minutes. On the journey there I had to coast down two hills. Times were tough. The man filling up opposite me begins waxing lyrical about how it is going to cost him £100 to fill up. For him here is some specialist advice:
- Don’t buy a 2L car mate.
- Don’t ride the accelerator like a bitch when: pulling away/driving normally. It doesn’t make you cool, nor does it help you’re fuel economy, you might not have made this connection because you were reeking of weed when you walked past me.
I now have fuel to get to work.
Yours in frustration,
BD
All of the above. Why is it that stupid people panic like this… Like. when ever we get a few snow flakes the Tescos at the end of my street gets emptied out and people fight over beans and tuna.
It’s stupid Britain please stop.
AHAHAH I love that Tesco story…

(Though I do have a Renault Sport Megane 2l Turbo - which ticks the boy racer box, and the 2l car box). But I am avoiding all petrol stations during rush hour.

I had exactly the same problem this morning. I saw someone shunt another car out of the way to get to the pumps first. Ridiculous.
